What is a hackathon?
A very tech-focused coding event where coders, designers and business guys, within a certain time, work on challenges to create innovative solutions. At the end of the event the ideas, and ideally the prototypes will be pitched and judged by a jury.
Who can participate in the hackathon?
Everyone, who's interested in tech and innovative topics, is very welcome! No tech or business background is needed – just a good amount of energy and willingness to learn and innovate. Also no experience in hackathons is required (beginners are welcome!).
I've never done a hackathon before. What should I expect?
You will learn a lot while working in ambitious teams. It's fun – come hack with us!
How to apply?
You have to register and get a ticket via Eventbrite.
What do I need to bring?
You should bring your own computer and other tools you need (e.g. charger, mouse, USB drive, adapters). If you want to stay overnight, don't forget your toothbrush! 😉
Can I come alone or do I need a team?
You don't need a team in advance! You will be part of a team but most teams will form at the spot, at the beginning of the hackathon.
Who gets the intellectual property rights to the work created by the teams?
The work (codes, data, documents, etc.) created by the teams during the hackathon will be of their own property. However, ideas presented to the public are freely accessible and usable.
What about food and drinks?
Food and drinks are free during the three days! Amazing catering for breakfast, lunch, dinner, extra snacks and of course, unlimited coffee!
Can I stay overnight?
Yes, feel free to stay and hack all night long! We provide some camp beds for a cozy night in the gym hall of the stadion, which you can reserve. Do you need one? Great! Just drop a line to frb@zollhof.de after getting your ticket. It's also possible to get one spontaneously but consider that the number of beds is limited.
Is there any reimbursement for travel?
No, but we have free FlixBus tickets valid for any line within Germany as long as it's a round trip to Nuremberg. If you need a code, write an email to frb@zollhof.de.
In which language will the event be held?
The event's language is English. All talks, workshops and activities will be held in English.
